I respect western medicine and have utilized its benefits several times throughout my life. There are however many flaws within the western medical model that often prevent patients from achieving optimal health. Having experienced this firsthand with unnecessary surgery and unhelpful prescription medications I knew there had to be other answers. The answer I found was Chinese Medicine. The eastern medical model takes the whole person into account when treating disease and injury. By doing this dysfunction becomes clear within the context of a larger overall pattern. Alternatives to surgery and prescription medications are a reality when this approach is taken . I advocate a dual approach to health that considers both the eastern and western medical approach. I refer to western doctors when appropriate and when Chinese Medicine is integral for the best results I guide my patients down the path towards recovery.
How I Got Started
In 2001, while studying for my B.F.A. at the University of Colorado, I happened to walk by a Tai Chi class on the campus lawn. I was intrigued by the meditative and graceful movements I witnessed the students performing. Soon after I became a member of the class and began to earnestly explore Chinese concepts of health and healing. This led me to become a Tai Chi and Qi Gong student of Master Zhu Xilin, the top student of Master Shi Ming featured in Bill Moyer’s Healing and the Mind series. This experience led me to become a licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist so that I could share what I was learning with others and help people heal.
My Passion for Healing Pain & Injury
I have healed many of my own physical injuries from shoulder problems to low back and hip issues. I understand the way that physical dysfunction can negatively impact your life. My greatest reward is seeing my clients return to a healthy and active lifestyle. After an injury rehabilitation session with me you will get off the table wondering how you have lived with pain and dysfunction for so long. In addition to treating pain and injury I successfully treat a variety of other conditions. Please call our office to ask.
My approach combines a few alternative therapies in order to maximize your results. I use a large amount of hands on therapy during treatment such as myofascial, deep tissue, and bony alignment work. Following this needling is performed to release trigger points and balance the body’s energy. Finally, I give lifestyle recommendations as well as exercise prescriptions to make your results last.
